Robert Bigio

Robert Bigio is a London-based flute player, flute maker, and writer on the flute. He studied at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, before moving to England where he did a PhD at the University of London. He is the author of countless articles in many journals, including Flutist Quarterly. He has published two books: "Readings in the History of the Flute" and "Rudall, Rose & Carte: The Art of the Flute in Britain," which was awarded the Bessaraboff Prize of the American Musical Instrument Society. Bigio was for five years the editor of the British Flute Society’s journal. He has recently been appointed editor from 2023 of the Journal of the American Musical Instrument Society. www.bigio.com
