Leone Buyse
Leone Buyse has been professor of flute at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music since 1997 and received the NFA’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010. Previously she taught for four years at The University of Michigan after a 22-year orchestral career that included positions with the Boston Symphony (assistant, then acting principal flute), the Boston Pops (principal), the San Francisco Symphony (assistant principal), and the Rochester Philharmonic (second and solo piccolo). She has appeared as a soloist, chamber musician, and master teacher throughout the Americas, Europe, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand, and maintains a web presence at leonebuyse.com.
